O.J. Mayo keeps rolling along for the Memphis Grizzlies

2nd year shooting guard O.J. Mayo is doing a great job again this season for the Grizzlies. He has played in 40 games (40 starts) and he is averaging 38.2 minutes, 18.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game. The Grizzlies have great balance on offense and Mayo is a big part of that because he is not selfish with the ball despite being a outstanding basketball player. That is was has made the Grizzlies so tough this season and that is because they are playing team basketball. I have no doubts that Mayo could probably score 23-25 points per game but the team is better because he isn’t.

Rudy Gay is taking his game to a new level this season. He has played in 29 games (all starts) for the Grizzlies so far this season and he is averaging 39.3 minutes, 21.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.7 steals per game. The Grizzlies are really starting to improve as a team and Rudy Gay has been a huge part of it. They need him to keep up the good work.

Zach Randolph is really playing outstanding basketball for the Memphis Grizzlies this season. He has played in 29 games (all starts) for the Grizzlies this season and he is averaging 36.7 minutes, 19.9 points, 11.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. Randolph is shooting 51% from the floor this season as he is really giving the Grizzlies a solid 1-2 punch with center Marc Gasol in the paint.

Marc Gasol is following in his brother’s footsteps for the Memphis Grizzlies

Starting center Marc Gasol is playing at a very high level for the Grizzlies just like his brother did before moving on to the Lakers. The Grizzlies want to keep this Gasol in town for a long time as he is looking like a player to build around. Gasol has played in 18 games (all starts) for the Grizzlies this season and he is averaging 35.7 minutes, 15.4 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.7 blocked shots per game. He is also shooting a stunning 63% from the floor this season. If the Grizzlies are to turn things around this season a big reason for it will likely be the play of Gasol.

Marc Gasol is stepping up for the Memphis Grizzlies

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 3 November 2009 at 8:23 pm

Marc Gasol is reminding a lot of Grizzlies fans of his older brother Pau who used to play for them when he first came to the U.S. from Spain. The difference between the two brothers is that Marc is tougher around the basket. Gasol has played in 4 games (all starts) for the Grizzlies so far this season and he is averaging 34.8 minutes, 19.0 points, 12.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.0 steal and 1.5 blocked shots per game. The Grizzlies are pleased with Gasol’s offense but they really hope he keeps up the good work on the glass and on defense because almost all of the other starters on the team are offense first players.
