27-year old center Marc Gasol got a big contract extension in the off-season and he has rewarded the Grizzlies with the best year of his career in 2011-12.  Gasol has played in 58 games (all starts) for the Grizzlies so far this year and he is averaging 37.5 minutes, 15.0 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.0 steal and 1.9 blocked shots per game.  All of those averages are career highs, except the steals which is tied for his career high.  The Grizzlies need Gasol to keep playing at a high level in the playoffs.

The Grizzlies outscored the Jazz 33-22 in the 4th quarter and it helped them surge to a nice home win last night.  Rudy Gay led the way for the Grizzlies with 26 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 2 blocked shots last night.  O.J. Mayo (20 points in 24 minutes), Marc Gasol (17 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocked shots) and Mike Conley (17 points, 1 rebound, 6 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot) also had solid games for the Grizzlies last night.  The Grizzlies are now 35-24 on the year.

San Antonio Spurs 107, Memphis Grizzlies 97

The Grizzlies just couldn’t keep up with the Spurs last night in Texas.  Rudy Gay led the way for the Grizzlies with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot.  O.J. Mayo (16 points and 1 assist), Marreese Speights (15 points, 7 rebounds and 1 steal) and Marc Gasol (14 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals and 1 blocked shot) also had rock solid games for the Grizzlies last night.  Mike Conley (11 points) and Zach Randolph (10 points) also pitched in for the Grizzlies last night.  The Grizzlies are now 34-24 on the year.

The Grizzlies shot 50% from the floor and they outrebounded the Suns 43-31 last night, which were the two big reasons for the win.  Rudy Gay led the way for the Grizzlies last night with 32 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot.  Zach Randolph (17 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal in 26 minutes) and O.J. Mayo (15 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal) also had solid games last night.  Mike Conley (12 points) and Dante Cunningham (10 points) also pitched in for the Grizzlies.  The Grizzlies 34-23 on the year.

30-year old SG/PG Gilbert Arenas has not looked rusty for the Grizzlies, despite just recently signing with them and sitting out most of the year.  Arenas has played in 9 games (0 starts) for the Grizzlies so far this year and he is averaging 15.1 minutes, 6.0 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.  He is also shooting well from long range as he has hit 10 of 24 (41.7%) three pointers so far this year.  The Grizzlies hope that Arenas continues to give them some zip off the bench offensively.

Mayo (13 points), Mike Conley (13 points), Marreese Speights (12 points and 8 rebounds) and Zach Randolph (10 points and 12 rebounds) also pitched in for the Grizzlies last night.  The Grizzlies are now 33-23 on the year.

The Grizzlies only shot 38.8% from the floor last Saturday Night, but it was good enough to beat the Mavericks.  Rudy Gay led the way for the Grizzlies in this game with 25 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal.  Zach Randolph (15 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal) and Gilbert Arenas (14 points, 1 rebound, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot in 17 minutes on the floor) also had decent games for the Grizzlies.  Mike Conley pitched in with 12 points, 1 rebound, 5 assists and 2 steals.  The Grizzlies are now 32-23 on the year.

Mayo (19 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists and 1 steal) and Mike Conley (18 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal) led the way for the Grizzlies last night.  Dante Cunningham also had a decent game with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 1 assist in 21 minutes on the floor.  Marc Gasol (12 points), Rudy Gay (11 points) and Gilbert Arenas (10 points) also pitched in for the Grizzlies last night.  The Grizzlies are now 30-22 on the year.
