The Grizzlies have two rookies behind 23-year old Rudy Gay at small forward. Gay played in 79 games for the Grizzlies last season and he averaged 37.3 minutes, 18.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Don’t look for his numbers to improve too much this season as the Grizzlies have a few more guys that can score on the roster this year. 23-year old DeMarre Carroll was a first round pick (#27) out of Missouri and the 6′8″, 212 pounder should get a decent amount of minutes behind Gay this season. 24-year old Sam Young was the 6th pick of the 2nd round out of Pitt for the Grizzlies. Young is 6′6″, 220 pounds and he plays all out on the basketball court so he should battle DeMarre Carroll for minutes.
