The Grizzlies had a rough night against the Rockets. Pau Gasol came to play even though a lot of his teammates didn’t. He scored 30 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, dished out 5 assists and blocked 5 shots. Mike Miller only hit 5 of 17 shots from the floor last night, but he still wound up with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

The Grizzlies hibernated during the season

The Memphis Grizzlies are sitting at 12-36 on the season which is currently the worst record in the NBA. The Celtics are trying hard to catch them as they’ve lost 14 games in a row and are currently only 1 game better than the Grizzlies. It has been a team effort for the Grizzlies as they’ve been truly awful this season. The Grizzlies are giving up 105.5 points per game and that is #28 in the NBA, and that’s pathetic. They also allow the opposition to hit 48.4% of their shots from the floor which is the worst in the NBA! The Grizzlies are a poor rebounding team as they only get 47.6% of the total rebounds in their games which is 28th in the NBA. The Grizzlies are 2-8 in games decided by three points or less and 5-12 in games decided by at least 10 points. The best thing the Grizzlies could do right now is to trade their veterans and start completely over.

The Grizzlies fall 116-110 to the Pacers in Indiana

The Grizzlies allowed the Pacers to hit 52.9% from the floor and the Grizz were outrebounded 51-34 by the Pacers. It’s hard to win a game like that. Pau Gasol had another great game with 30 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocked shots. Mike Miller also had a solid game with 26 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists.

Time for the Grizzlies to extend the rookies playing time

Blogged under Front Page,Rookie Reports by Nothing but Net on Saturday 3 February 2007 at 8:37 pm

With this season pretty much lost for the Grizzlies they might as well take a longer look at the kids they drafted. Rudy Gay can play either small forward or shooting guard and he’s a very athletic player. Gay has played in 47 games this season and is averaging 22.7 minutes, 8.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game. He does need to shoot better as he’s only hitting 40.3% of his shots from the floor.

Power Forward Alexander Johnson has played very well when given the chance. The Grizzlies need to play him more because he’s a good rebounder and the Grizzlies are not a good rebounding team. Johnson has played in 32 games and he’s averaged 6.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 0.4 assists. Johnson also has made 55.3% of his FG’s this season which is impressive even though most of the attempts are in the paint.

Shooting guard Tarence Kinsey hasn’t played very much this season. He’s played in 16 games and is averaging 8.4 minutes, 2.3 points, 0.5 rebounds and 0.4 assists. He could get better with more playing time.

Guard Will Conroy has played in one game and didn’t score in 2.2 minutes on the court.

The Grizzlies cut Eddie Jones

Blogged under Big Grizzlies News,Front Page by Nothing but Net on Friday 2 February 2007 at 1:22 pm

This makes perfect sense for the Grizzlies to do right now. Jones played in 29 games this season and he averaged 5.6 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. He also has only shot 37.7% from the floor. So it didn’t make sense to keep giving Eddie Jones minutes and taking them away from Rudy Gay and Dahntay Jones.
