Dull effort dooms Grizzlies in 97-88 loss to Hawks

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 16 December 2006 at 5:28 pm

The Grizzlies only shot 36.9% from the floor and allowed the Hawks to hit 53.5% from the floor. The Grizzlies were also out-rebounded 37-29 on their way to another loss. Chucky Atkins led the way for the Grizz with 18 points. Hakim Warrick had a decent game with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Alexander Johnson came off the bench and played his best game of the year so far scoring 15 points and grabbing 4 rebounds. Rudy Gay pitched in with 13 points. Mike Miller was busy with 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals.

The bright spot in this game was that Pau Gasol played in his first game of the season. Gasol didn’t play that well in the 17 minutes he was on the court. He was only 1 of 5 from the floor and wound up with 4 points and 3 rebounds, but it was nice to see him back. Better times lie ahead for the Grizzlies now that their best player is back.

The Grizzlies fell to 5-18 on the season with this loss.
